  Shepherding visit

  i cannot seem to find any information on which elder/s are assigned to do a shepherding visit on a congregation member.

  does one of them have to be the member's field group leader?

  can any elders do a shepherding visit at a member's request?

  I'll speak to you donnye from recent personal experience on this topic.

  For the past 6 months to a year I've had numerous attempts made by various elders for a 'shepherding call' on myself. I've successfully thwarted each attempt by respectfully telling these meatheads that I'm doing great & am way too busy for their fuss!

  I obviously know for a fact that their main reason for calling on myself is to put me on some sort of guilt-trip. The last thing they wanted to hear were such upbeat, cherry and optimistic replies such as I've been giving them.

  The absolute last thing they want to hear is that a nearly inactive, very low hour publisher who rarely attends meetings (zoom & otherwise) and who shows very little interest in being in this religion is doing awesome independent of this cult.

  Are any books being placed anymore?

  a recent post by atlantis/ petra was about destroying old books, some of which had been studied and placed over the years.. is witnessing these days only about directing people to jworg, are there books that are placed, or is hq concerned enough about having ever-changing beliefs in print that they avoid it?.

  For the most part...No!

  Jehovah's Witnesses don't know how to carry on a conversation about the Bible. JWs don't know how to defend their faith either. They've also in the past been very unproductive in placing WT books & magazines. So what does the WT leadership have the rank & file JW do?   How much do Elders actually get along with each other?

  i was reading in the shepherding book that elders should “ cul­tivate and maintain friendships with one another.”, and thought to myself “bulls$it!” i remember that most of the elders in my old congregation were nothing but nasty asses.

  i know it may vary from congregation to congregation, but do elders generally get along with each other behind closed doors in elders meetings?

  or, are they often in conflict with each other?

  Mickbobcat: I have seen elders move to other congregations because they did not get along with other elders.

  I'll say Amen to that!

  Many of the elders & their families who moved into our congregation moved-in cause they were unhappy with their previous congregation's BOEs & many of the elders who moved out ...left cause they had issues with our elder body. Most congregations have belly-aching elders among the body.

  In the many decades of my being a JW...grievances among the BOEs in our circuit's congregations was a known fact. Personality clashes among men is as bad as personality clashes among the women.

  whilst i have never quite understood whether petra and atlantis are one or multiple entities i recognise the value of their work and web of contacts.

  i think it is fair to say that no-one has consistently contributed more solid gold intelligence to this site.

  no one has reliably passed on more bomb shells and solid news as well as day to day minutiae.

  i thought i would post an encouraging experience i found today.

  i've been seeing a lot of 70-80 year old jws waking up, and their children are posting their experience on reddit.

  these are old elders, pioneers, circuit overseers who have given their everything and finally at the end of their life, are walking away.. maybe the key to waking up is that a person has to have a deep sense of right and wrong.

  Truth be told...there are a ton of stories like this one playing out inside many of the 120,000 congregations worldwide. I know of an old chap...he's in his late 70s & his wife is in her mid to late 70s. He especially was once a pillar in this cult. His wife has always been well liked...sort of like the Dorcas personality type in the Bible. These two of recent have woken up to all the bullshit in this organization & it's driving many in their circle of zealous JW family & friends crazy.

  When once highly respected JWs like this couple start to silently demonstrate their disgust for this organization there's not much the local body of elders & circuit overseers can do but sit & watch the 'Truth' unravel right before their own eyes.

  Wow...what a sad life! When the C.O. would visit...I would wonder to myself..."How many times has Sister C.O. heard this guys talk?"

  For appearance sake...these women have to endure hearing the same midweek talks & then have to sit through the Sunday meetings & hear the same public & the same concluding talk again...week after week...month after month! What a drag life must be for these wives of COs!

  Watchtowers next big revenue stream!

  evidently it would seem the wt sold the rights and will get royalties from "listen obey and be blessed.." this obviously is a trial balloon for what's to come.

  kim and mikey alluded to this and i have been wondering why they are planning on spending hundreds of millions on a new movie studio in n.y. and also in australia just for the benefit of the few million jdub's.

  well here's the answer, they are going to make money off the royalties from their music and video content selling to other church groups.

  Don't forget the revenue and profits WT is getting from selling Kingdom Halls & Assembly Halls to other church groups as well!

  This knucklehead WT Governing Body is playing with fire...getting involved in these money making schemes! Soon...very soon...more and more of the rank and file will begin to see the double standards of this organization...Yay!
